What is Planned Giving?
Planned giving means making arrangements now for a future gift to a cause you care about—like the Meade County Community Foundation and/or one of the causes we support. These gifts usually come after your lifetime and can support your values, legacy, and hometown for years to come.
Common Types of Planned Gifts:
Bequests in a Will or Trust
Leave a specific amount, percentage, or what’s left of your estate after your family is taken care of.
You can change your mind at any time.
Beneficiary Designations
Simply name the Foundation as a beneficiary on things like:
Life insurance
Retirement accounts (IRA, 401(k), 403(b))
Bank or investment accounts (Payable or Transferable on Death)
It’s free, easy, and doesn’t require rewriting your will.
IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
If you're 70½ or older, you can give from your IRA directly to a nonprofit and reduce your taxable income.
Life Insurance
Name the Foundation as a beneficiary or donate a no-longer-needed policy.
Why Consider It?
You don’t need to be wealthy to make a meaningful gift.
You stay in control and can update your plans at any time.
You can support causes you love—impacting the future of Meade County.
Your gift can be customized to your goals and comfort level.

Estate/Legacy Planning FREE Resource
Thanks to Western Kansas Community Foundation, we are able to provide a FREE estate planning service for Meade County residents. This service is for anyone who desires a trouble-free, inexpensive estate transfer from one generation to the next in addition to more complex estate plans including farm and business transition. Estate and gift planner Joshua Howard, J.D., of Clark, Mize & Linville Chartered out of Salina conducts the Foundation's Legacy Planning program. Josh can help design a comprehensive personalized plan to carry out your wishes, provide successor management of an estate and distribute assets, including charitable provisions, all while working to ensure the transfer of assets is as efficient as possible. Appointments occur once a month, with most plans utilizing, on average, three to five appointments. During this time, appointments are being conducted via Zoom conferencing. Again, this process is free thanks to sponsorship of the program provided by Commerce Trust Company and the Western Kansas Community Foundation (WKCF).
