Below are a few featured highlights of projects we have been able to help fund in previous grant seasons. These updates come directly from our grantees and we enjoy sharing them with you!
We are incredibly grateful to the Meade County Community Foundation for generously awarding us the grant to purchase giant yard games! This funding is a true game-changer for our community outreach efforts. The addition of these activities will allow us to move beyond the confines of the library and provide engaging, family-friendly fun, especially during the highly anticipated annual Threshing Days celebration. Thank you for helping us enrich community engagement and create experiences outside of our usual walls!
Through a MCCF Grant, the Plains Community Library was able to purchase 4 new sewing machines and accessories for their new makerspace. The Library has already hosted a few different sewing workshops already with more on the horizon for 2026!
The Meade County Historical Society sustained floor damage from roof leaks during heavy rains this past year. With a grant from MCCF they were able to replace the damaged carpet to upkeep their safe and welcoming facility.
Core Community had a big project. Freezer Meals for the masses. We invited a host of new people in to get acquainted and make some meals to stash in the freezer for the coming busy winter. Each family took home at least 3 meals. We made Hawaiian Meat Balls, Creamy Chicken Enchiladas, & Sausage Cheesy Potato Casserole. Everybody had a great time. Angie Reimer did all the planning, purchasing & led the class. We want to give a big shout out to MEADE COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION. The foundation grant paid for all the ingredients & Cheyenne even showed up and led one of the cooking groups.

MES/MJH received $500 from MCCF. With your help, we were gratefully able to purchase a large flat bed rolling cart to help with moving large and heavy items throughout our building! Thank you so much,

Meade Church of the Nazarene received $1,000 to help offset the cost of backpacks and supplies for the Back to School Bash. Despite the RIDICULOUS heat dozens of families came to the park to enjoy the various activities and get backpacks full of supplies for their kids.
The MHS yearbook/multimedia class is currently developing an agenda for officially starting their podcast before the semester is out with the equipment purchased by a MCCF grant. The podcast will be posted on our multimedia page and also on Spotify, and will highlight high school students’ thoughts on life, school, sports, and their community.
Ignite hosted a family fun night, which included games, food, T-Shirts, and prizes. The Inflatable Obstacle Course sponsored by MCCF was a never ending line of kids throughout the night!
The Ignite program supports physical, nutritional, and mental health. It has been a part of the district with regular activities and events. This program is not funded by the school and relies on donations and grants to keep going.
In collaboration with the Outreach Program, Meade High School's service organizations hosted their third annual meal packing event. These students packed 12,000 meals—their highest count to date, which made their way to the Meade and Fowler food pantries with a goal of addressing food insecurity in our county.
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library, in conjunction with the Plains Community Library, sends monthly books to children. Any young child in Meade County, up to age 5, is eligible for this program!
The Beanstack app is available to any SWH or MHS student to encourage reading and track progress for the 100 books before graduation program and connect with family and friends.

From future doctors and welders to authors and athletes—Meade's Preschool through 8th grade leaders of tomorrow kicked off the day with a Career Parade full of imagination, inspiration, and community pride! The hallways were buzzing with energy as 42 incredible professionals from near and far shared their career journeys and wisdom with our students. What an amazing opportunity to dream big and think even BIGGER!
With this grant, Mrs. Vieux was able to purchase: a classroom set of magnetic trays with numbers and letters, three different whole card sets that focus on combining academic skills and large motor skills, a magnetic alphabet, and numbered peg boards that go from 1-10.
These are utilized by her 18 students, and will last for many more years!
A HUGE thanks To Meade County Community Foundation for the grant money that helped to fund 53 Christmas meal bags this year! Christmas Meal Bags consisted of a turkey, stuffing mix, sweet potatoes, marshmallows, green beans, instant potatoes, toilet paper, and paper towels. We were also able to purchase shelving units with this grant.
Fowler Legacy Foundation purchased two mobile heavy duty storage carts with our grant money from MCCF. This has allowed us to move all our decorations, supplies and records from several temporary storage areas and into our new office in the Fowler High School building. Thank you for helping us with this project to establish an office where we can meet and work with everything in one place. The Legacy board’s vision is this will help establish an efficient means to carry on the work of the foundation as we acquire all we need to operate.
The grant has been used to support the annual Back-to-School Bash and Trunk-or-Treat events. These events play a vital role in promoting community engagement and collaboration. Residents the entire county have participated in these events. They offer a valuable opportunity to partner with local organizations and businesses and connect with groups from surrounding towns, bringing all organizations together to work towards common objectives. Any remaining funds after this reporting period will be redirected toward our Cookies with Santa event and next year's Meade County Health Fair.
The students are learning camera and video skills using the camera/video recorder that was purchased and have published several videos that they created. They've also taken hundreds of pictures that will be used in this year’s yearbook, as well as the district’s monthly newsletter, The Open Range. One of the students’ goals was to produce their own pictures instead of primarily relying on others’ pictures, and with this purchase, they are reaching this goal.
Picnic tables were repaired and replaced in the park area on the south side of the Dalton Gang Hideout (DGH) property. The picnic area is used by visitors to the DGH. Melodramas are also held in this portion of the park. The tops have to be replaced just about every 4 or 5 years.
"The Meade Council on Aging ( Beam Center) greatly appreciated the $1500.00 grant you gave us for roof repair. The new roof was completed in August. It looks beautiful and hopefully, will last a long time. Thank you for all the good work you are doing in Meade County!" -- Brenda Pennington
The recycling center in Fowler was able to improve and update their facility.
Playground equipment was partially funded by Meade County Community Foundation.
Picnic tables were added to the RV park to be enjoyed by visitors.
Sedgwick County Zop presented their Zooreach program during summer reading in Fowler. It was attended by several local youth and adults alike.
PES purchased a popcorn machines to add some popping fun to their school days! They have also repainted their 4-square court with MCCF grant funds.
5th quarter is an activity hosted in Fowler to give JH and HS students safe place to gather following activities.
Fowler Arts Council has used grant funds to help spread their mission of, "The World is Our Canvas" by partnering with local residents to paint the town's fire hydrants.
