Types of Charitable Funds
At the Meade County Community Foundation, donors can choose from several fund types to support causes you care about most.
Any fund can begin as an expendable fund (where principal can also be spent) with a minimum of $1,000, and later convert to an endowment when it reaches the $5,000 minimum required for long-term sustainability.
Unrestricted Fund
This what funds our biannual grant cycles. It goes to the greatest needs in Meade County. This is determined by the MCCF board based on grant applications received.
Field of Interest Fund
Allows you to have more of a say where your money goes, without having to be involved in the selection process. Categories could be, but are not limited to: seniors, education, a specific community or town, healthcare, the arts, youth, or housing.
Agency Endowment Fund/Designated Fund
Nonprofits (or their supporters) can create a permanent fund to support their own organization. Provide ongoing support to a specific nonprofit or program you love.
Donor Advised Fund
Stay actively involved in your giving. There are specific tax advantages to these funds, please consult with your accountant or tax professional.
Scholarship Fund
Invest in the future of local students. Meade County Community Foundation will run the application and selection process. You can be as involved or hands off as you wish. Reverse scholarships (funds given to new or former Meade County Residents who move to Meade County) options are also available.
